FDR State Park is a great place to hike with 23 miles of trails around and atop of the Pine Mt. Ridge. FDR enjoyed the scenery and views from Dowells Knob lookout. Not only is there hiking but also primitive and RV camping, swimming, horseback riding, cottages to stay in, and group cottages. Many of the cottages and other park buildings, the registration/welcome center on Hwy 190, and the bridge on Hwy 190 were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. It is Georgia's largest state park consisting of 9,049 acres. Ask about hiking to the small waterfalls at the Welcome center.

This is one of Georgia's treasures. The park is large with about 46 miles of trails, a lake, lots of wildlife and lots of fantastic views. This is a wonderful place to get away and relax. There are plenty of things to do, things to see, and things to enjoy in one of Georgia's largest State Parks.
